Annual Giving

The Stratford Hall Annual Fund

As an important member of our community, you have an integral role to play in making Stratford Hall’s programs the best that they can be. As an independent school, our ability to offer progressive, multi-faceted programs within the IB framework relies heavily on the funding we generate beyond tuition and government subsidies. Our ability to educate Stratford Hall students to the highest global standards – to shape the stories that will define their futures – is directly affected by the depth of your generosity.

We use our Annual Fund as the primary vehicle for fundraising at Stratford Hall. To run a successful and sustained annual fund depends on the participation of every member of the school community – parents, grandparents, governors, faculty, staff, former parents, alumni, friends, foundations and corporations. We need you all.

Over the course of the last year, through the #SaveClarkPark campaign, we have seen that when every member of our community reaches in, we are capable of incredible things. #SaveClarkPark not only generated enough funds to replace the aging play structure our students were using at Clark Park, but also ignited our student and parent body into action in a way that was thrilling to witness. Through bottle drives and bake sales and lemonade stands and our generous donors, we raised more than $350,000 in 30 days! It was a case study in the power of a united and focused community.

Each September, the focus for the Annual Fund is announced and our financial goal is shared with the community; however, gifts are welcome at any time of year. All gifts over $25 are tax deductible and every gift counts. To give your gift today, simply use the online donation form below, call 604.436.0608 or email

Alternative Donation Vehicles

Educational Investment Deposit (EID) Gifts: All Stratford Hall families are required to place an Educational Investment Deposit (EID) with the school. This non-interest bearing deposit is reimbursed to the family following the end of the school year in which their last child leaves the school. The EID is currently set at $20,000 per family. Stratford Hall families are encouraged to donate all, or a portion of, their deposit to the school in advance of their last child’s departure. Families who donate their entire EID will be granted membership into the Stratford Hall Leaders' Circle. Members of the Leaders' Circle are recognized on a donor wall in the PYP building. EID donations are obligated to be used directly towards the reduction of the school's $21million bank debt. A reducing debt load helps the school to open up finanicng opportunities for capital projects and expansion. All EID’s that are converted into a donation to the school qualify for an official charitable tax receipt. This enables families to realize the tax benefits of that conversion well in advance of their last child’s departure from the school. Upon signing a formal Transfer Agreement acknowledging a full or partial transfer of your EID, the school will automatically convert those funds into a Leaders’ Circle donation. For further information on donating your EID, please contact Jennifer Yeung in the Advancement Office.

Cash or Cheque: Personal cheques and credit card payments are the easiest way to make a gift to the Stratford Hall Annual Fund. Simply include your cheque and donor information and drop it off to the Advancement Office or mail it to the school at 3000 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, BC, V5N 4E2. Cheques should be made payable to Stratford Hall.

Gifts of Securities: Securities transferred to Stratford Hall are sold upon receipt and credited to the Stratford Hall Annual Fund. The charitable deduction is determined by the fair market value on the date of the transfer. An acknowledgement will be sent to you describing your gift, receipt date, and value for your tax records.

Matching Gifts: There are many companies that match their employees’ gifts. A list of companies with potential matching gift programs can be found here. If your company is not listed, please contact your human resources department for clarification.

All monetary gifts are tax deductible as allowed by Canadian Law. Canadian tax receipts are issued for eligible gifts of more than $25. Gifts received by December 31, 2017 are receipted for 2017; those received between January 1 and June 30, 2018 will be receipted for 2018.
