The traditions that bring us together
Every school has its own traditions, stories, and moments that students remember long after they graduate. At Stratford Hall, these experiences are woven throughout the year, bringing our community together in meaningful ways.
Some shared experiences are big, school-wide celebrations. Others are simple moments that students look forward to each year. Together, they create lasting memories that strengthen our sense of community.
These are just a few of the traditions, events, and quirks that students, families, and staff come to know and love.
House System
Our House System unites students across grade levels to create vibrant, supportive communities. Each student is part of a house—Orca, Bear, Eagle, or Wolf—where they build friendships and work as a team through shared traditions, activities, and friendly competitions throughout the year. The House System fosters a strong sense of belonging, ensuring every student feels connected, valued, and part of the broader school community.
Back to School BBQ
A joyful start to the school year, the Back to School BBQ brings together students, families, and staff to reconnect, welcome new community members, and celebrate the year ahead.
Terry Fox Run
Each year, our community comes together to honour Terry Fox’s legacy through a school-wide run and fundraising initiative at Trout Lake. It is a meaningful opportunity for students to reflect on perseverance, compassion, and the enduring impact of collective action.
Winter Market & Summer Carnival
Organized in partnership between Stratford Hall Parent Association (SHPA) and the Senior School student leaders, the Winter Market showcases student creativity and entrepreneurship through student-run booths, crafts, and activities, bringing warmth and energy to the season.
A highlight of the school year, the Summer Carnival brings the community together for an afternoon of games, activities, and celebration, marking the end of the year with energy, joy, and connection.
Grandparents & Grandfriends Day
This special day in the Junior School welcomes grandparents and grandfriends into the school. Students take pride in performing for their special guests, and Grade five students enjoy serving afternoon tea.
Grad Walk
A heartfelt tradition where graduates walk from the Diploma Programme Building to the Middle Years Programme Building for their final assembly, cheered on by younger students and staff. It’s a powerful moment that celebrates their journey and the connections that span across grade levels.
Lunar New Year
A highlight of our Lunar New Year celebration is the parent-organized lion dance, which brings vibrant energy to the school and symbolizes good fortune and renewal for the year ahead.
Continuum Connections
Continuum Connections pairs students across grade levels, creating opportunities for meaningful relationships between older and younger students. Buddy groups meet several times a year to take part in games, activities, and shared experiences that build connection, mentorship, and school spirit across the whole school.
Staff Student Games
Friendly yet spirited showdowns where students and staff take to the courts in much-anticipated games. Filled with energy, teamwork, and school spirit, it’s a fun way to bring the community together.
