Leave Your Mark on Clark Park

This year, Stratford Hall is working to rally the school and the wider East Van Community to raise at least $350,000 in order to replace the aging play structure at Clark Park. The Parks and Recreation Board of Vancouver, which was unable to budget for a new structure, is partnering with Stratford Hall to support the replacement of the playground using community funds. Our goal is to raise all the funds necessary by November 1st, 2016. Stratford Hall is delighted to be leading the initiative in order to give back to the East Vancouver community that we call home. At the heart of the #SaveClarkPark project is also an opportunity to involve our students in a legacy project that shows them what can be achieved through the power of collaboration and the generosity of the human spirit.

There are a number of ways to support #SaveClarkPark and the students of Stratford Hall. Supporters may make a lump-sum donation directly to the Stratford Hall Annual Fund. Or, you may choose to show your support by participating in the events and initiatives led by the Stratford Hall Parents’ Association (SHPA), such as the annual gala. SHPA funds are also directed toward your Annual Fund contribution. This year, funds raised at Gala will be used to create an inspiring facility to house our Centre for Innovation. 

Gifts to the Annual Fund are unrestricted in order to facilitate the distribution of funds based on a whole-school approach.

What does this mean for you?

It makes giving simple. Regardless of how you choose to make your gift, you can be assured that your funds are being used in a manner that provides the best possible experience for the students of Stratford Hall.    

Cash Gifts: Personal cheques and credit card payments are the easiest way to make a gift to the Stratford Hall Annual Fund. Simply include your cheque or credit card information with the donation card and return it to the school. Cheques should be made payable to Stratford Hall.

Gifts of Securities: Securities transferred to Stratford Hall are sold upon receipt and credited to the Stratford Hall Annual Fund. The charitable deduction is determined by the fair market value on the date of the transfer. An acknowledgement will be sent to you describing your gift, receipt date, and value for your tax records.

Educational Investment Deposit (EID) Gifts: All Stratford Hall families are required to place an Educational Investment Deposit (EID) with the school. This non-interest bearing deposit is reimbursed to the family following the end of the school year in which their last child leaves the school. The EID is currently set at $20,000 per family. Stratford Hall families are encouraged to donate all, or a portion of, their deposit to the school in advance of their last child’s departure. Families who donate their entire EID will be granted membership into the Stratford Hall Leader’s Circle. Members of the Leaders Circle will be recognized on a donor wall in the PYP building. EID donations are obligated to be used directly towards the reduction of the school's $21million bank debt. A reducing debt load helps the school to open up finanicng opportunities for capital projects and expansion. All EID’s that are converted into a donation to the school qualify for an official charitable tax receipt. This enables families to realize the tax benefits of that conversion well in advance of their last child’s departure from the school. Upon signing a formal Transfer Agreement acknowledging a full or partial transfer of your EID, the school will automatically convert those funds into a Leaders’ Circle donation. Matching Gifts: There are many companies that match their employees’ gifts. A list of companies with matching gift programs can be found on our website. If your company is not listed, please contact your human resources department for clarification.

All monetary gifts are tax deductible as allowed by Canadian Law. Canadian tax receipts are issued for eligible gifts of more than $25. Gifts received by December 31, 2016 are receipted for 2016; those received between January 1 and June 30, 2017 will be receipted for 2017.
