Key Tax Advantages: Donating publicly traded securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs) is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give. It provides a "double tax benefit": 0% capital gains tax on your appreciated investments and a generous charitable tax credit for the fair market value of the securities.
Eliminated Capital Gains Tax: When you donate eligible securities "in-kind" directly to Stratford Hall, the capital gains inclusion rate is reduced to 0%. If you were to sell the securities to donate the cash, you would normally be taxed on 50% of the accrued gains.
A simple way to maximize your support of Stratford Hall, the employer matching gift program maximizes charitable donations by often doubling, or even tripling, the impact of your gift at no additional cost to you. Click here to find out if your employer has a matching gift program.
If your company is not listed, we encourage you to check with your employer’s human resources department to see if a matching gift program is available. By taking advantage of employer matching, your generosity can go even further in supporting student programs and enriching our school community.
Stratford Hall families are encouraged to donate all, or a portion of, their deposit to the school in advance of their last child’s departure. EID donations may be directed to the Campus Transformation Campaign or Annual Fund at the donor’s discretion.
EIDs converted into a donation to the school qualify for an official charitable tax receipt. This enables families to realize the tax benefits of that conversion well in advance of their last child’s departure from the school.
Upon signing a formal Transfer Agreement acknowledging a full or partial transfer of your EID, the school will automatically convert those funds into a Leaders’ Circle donation. Families who donate their entire EID ($20,000) will be granted membership into the Stratford Hall Leaders Circle and qualify for a naming opportunity on the Leaders Circle donor wall.

We donated our Education Investment Deposit to Stratford Hall several years ago, while our daughter was still in the middle of her time at the school. She had started in Grade 6, and by then we had seen enough of her experience to feel that the school had become an important part of her life.
For our family, education has always been one of the most important things parents can give their children. A good school creates a daily environment where expectations are clear, effort is noticed, and students are taken seriously. Over time, that environment shapes a child in ways that are hard to measure while it is happening, but easier to see once you look back.
The donation felt like part of the same long commitment we had already made to our children’s education. Families invest in schools in many ways: through tuition, time, trust, patience, and daily attention. Leaving the EID with Stratford Hall was a way for part of that investment to remain with the school and support the students who will come after ours.

We believe that contributing our EID to Stratford Hall is an investment in our children’s future. While there are many ways we could choose to invest this money, when we reflect on our family’s values, investing in our children’s education and in the school community feels like one of the most meaningful choices we can make.
We chose Stratford Hall to provide our children with exceptional opportunities, and our support helps ensure those opportunities continue to grow and thrive. Giving also deepens our connection to the school community, reinforcing our commitment to the school’s mission.
Most importantly, we see our contribution as an investment in our children’s lifelong success. By giving, we are also leading by example, teaching our children the importance of generosity, community, and supporting the organizations that make a meaningful difference in their lives.
