We are delighted to welcome students back to school on September 8. We hope your summer break has offered you rest, growth, and renewal opportunities and has been filled with all good things! We cannot wait for our students and staff to fill the classrooms and corridors with their voices and laughter.

We have eagerly anticipated the full reopening of our campus. Our continued commitment to fostering resilience, perseverance, grit, empathy, and the ability to communicate effectively in diverse learning partnerships will undoubtedly help our students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Today, the ministers of education and advanced education, along with Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, unveiled plans for students, teachers, and parents as the province faces the growing Delta variant.

Students will be returning to regular, in-class study when schools resume in September. Masks will be required for all students in Grades 4 and above, as well as all staff and teachers. Kindergarten to Grade 3 students will continue to be encouraged, but not required, to wear masks. The mask requirement will also be in effect for all indoor public spaces, including library, locker rooms and hallways, among others.

Schools continue to be considered low-risk settings for COVID-19 transmission, particularly in the context of a highly immunized population.  Vaccines are the most effective way to reduce the risk of COVID-19 in schools. Everyone eligible is strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated (i.e., receive 2 doses) against COVID-19. School exposures are more likely in communities with lower vaccination uptake/greater community risk.

It is our collective responsibility to continue our efforts and ensure we all follow the guidelines that keep us healthy and safe:
  • Maximize physical distancing
  • Minimize physical contact
  • Practice frequent and proper hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette
  • Wear masks as required
  • Conscientiously complete the Daily Health Check prior to coming to school
We are confident that, as we welcome you back, the singular energy of re-emerging school life and learning will enliven us all, and that our students will flourish.

I look forward to welcoming all our students back to the campus and thank you in advance for your continued support and cooperation.
