Councils

The Senior School has five student councils: Action & Wellness, Arts, Athletics, Innovation & Academics, and Sustainability. These councils are student-led by our graduating Prefects and Junior Prefects. All students have the opportunity to apply for a council that interests them. This provides a wonderful opportunity to interact with students spanning Grades 6 to 12. Councils meet biweekly to initiate, plan, and lead various school-wide experiences. Some examples include: Care Package and Winter Clothing Drive, Design Challenges, Earth Week, Staff vs Student Games, and Arts Week.

Action & Wellness Council
The Action and Wellness Council exists within Student Life to promote student action, service to our community, and mental, physical, and emotional wellness in the Senior School. It is an important part of Stratford Hall Student Life because it emphasises and creates opportunities for discussion of mental health in the school, provides opportunities for, and highlights the importance of, community service and being involved in one’s community. The Action and Wellness Council has led, and continues to lead, initiatives such as wellness workshops, annual food and care package drives, and Mental Health Awareness Week.

Arts Council
The Arts Council exists within Student Life to promote the arts in the Senior School. It is an important part of Stratford Hall Student Life because they strengthen the visibility of the Arts. Through doing this they develop and grow the community of artists as they amplify the prominence of arts in the school. The Arts Council has led, and continues to lead, initiatives such as music performances (“Jam Bars”) and Arts Week.

Athletics Council
The Athletics Council exists within Student Life to promote Athletics in the Senior School. The Athletics Council is an important part of Stratford Hall Student Life because it emphasises the celebration of sport. Students do this by promoting staff vs student games, intramurals, cheering on the Sabres, and regularly highlighting an Athlete of the Month.

Innovation and Academics Council
The Innovation and Academics Council exists within Student Life to promote design, engineering, creativity, technology, academic excellence, knowledge acquisition and inquiry in the Senior School. It is an important part of Stratford Hall Student Life because it promotes creativity in academics and an enjoyment in education. The Innovation and Academics Council has led, and continues to lead, initiatives such as regular design challenges and the Spelling Bee.

Sustainability Council
The Spirit Council exists within Student Life to promote environmental sustainability. It is an important part of Stratford Hall Student Life because it promotes a positive relationship with the Earth and our increasing awareness of, and action towards, addressing the Climate Emergency. The Sustainability Council leads initiatives such as the Annual Neighbourhood Clean-up, Earth Week, and weekly sustainability challenges and initiatives.
