Learning how to lead

Whether leading a council, captaining a House, or serving as a voice for the student body, students learn that leadership is fundamentally about how one shows up for others. From the early years through graduation, students become empowered to lead themselves, lead with others, and ultimately take the lead in shaping school culture.

Prefects

Prefects (Grade 11 and 12 students) serve as the bridge between the student body and school administration. They champion school spirit, lead councils, and model the character traits of the IB Learner Profile. They do so much more than just represent their peers—they actively shape the spirit of our school and ensure it remains a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every voice matters and all students can find a sense of belonging.

Councils

Five Prefect-led councils give students in Grades 6–12 opportunities to get involved in areas that interest them, develop ideas, and organize activities and initiatives for the school community.

Action & Wellness Council: A champion for balance, developing initiatives that support mental and emotional well-being.

Arts Council: The creative force creating opportunities for students to share and celebrate music, performance, and visual art.

Athletics Council: The heartbeat of Sabre pride, building school spirit through intramurals, staff-versus-student games, and other athletics initiatives.

Innovation & Academics Council: A playground for curious minds, bringing students together through design challenges, technology projects, and collaborative inquiry.

Sustainability Council: Leads environmental initiatives and helps the school community find practical ways to reduce its impact.

Community Leaders

As the heartbeat of every grade in the Senior School, Community Leaders build a sense of belonging within the classroom and beyond. They serve as a bridge between their classmates, their Advisors, and the Student Life team. Whether facilitating community-building activities, championing school spirit, or ensuring every peer feels seen and supported, they act as the architects of grade culture. They empower their grade, taking the lead in creating a supportive environment where every voice is heard, and every student feels at home.

House Captains and Junior House Captains

House Captains (Grade 11 students) and Junior House Captains (Grade 7 students) lead the charge in fostering school pride. Through organizing House events, driving participation, and leading their teams towards the House Cup, they turn friendly competition into a powerful tool for connection. House Captains keep the energy high and create moments of joy and belonging for students across all grades.

Community Navigator Team

The Community Navigator Team (Nav Team) are the custodians of our after-school culture. Moving beyond simple supervision, these student leaders focus on stewardship—the art of ensuring our community remains safe, connected, and welcoming long after the final bell rings. Whether they are sparking connection through activities like board games or e-sports, or acting as a friendly contact point for our external program partners, they ensure that every student who stays after the bell feels like they are part of a vibrant, inclusive community.
