- SSAT and Character Skills Snapshot (Grades 6 to 11)
A parent interview is part of the application process for Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grades 6 to 11, and should be scheduled within 14 days of submitting your application.
For Grades 2 to 5, interviews are arranged as space becomes available.
This step may be waived for current Stratford Hall families.
Our goal is to get to know each student as a learner and as a person. The assessment process varies by grade and may include group activities, written work, and conversations with teachers.
Kindergarten and Grade 1
Please check your Applicant Checklist and follow the assessment instructions. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an in-person assessment with teachers.
Grades 2 to 5
Students will be invited for an assessment as space becomes available. This may include a group activity and/or a one-on-one conversation with a teacher.
Grades 6 to 11
The evaluation is multi-faceted combining the SSAT and Character Skills Snapshot results, a student statement, a group collaborative assessment, and an individual interview with a teacher.
Students applying to Grades 6 to 11 are required to complete the SSAT. The SSAT and Character Skills Snapshot is a standardized test used by admission offices to assess the academic abilities of students seeking to enroll in an independent school. Exemptions may be considered for students currently enrolled in an IB programme.
English language learners will be required to certify their English ability using the Duolingo English Test.
Families of successful applicants will receive an offer of admission in late February.
To confirm a space, registration and fees must be submitted by the specified deadline.
All families are invited to an Enrolment Meeting to help guide you through the next steps and welcome your family to the Stratford Hall community.

Yes. Stratford Hall welcomes applications from international students.
As a day school, students must live with a parent or legal guardian in the Lower Mainland. We do not offer ESL support, so students are expected to have a strong level of English proficiency. Students would be expected to score an equivalent of an IELTS score of 5.0 on the Duolingo test.
An annual fee of $10,000 applies to international students. This includes one year of medical insurance through Study Insured.
Our admissions assessments are designed by our teachers and change each year. In some cases, families may receive inaccurate information from third parties, so we encourage families to connect directly with our Admissions team.
