Key Tax Advantages
Donating publicly traded securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs) is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give. It provides a "double tax benefit": 0% capital gains tax on your appreciated investments and a generous charitable tax credit for the fair market value of the securities.
Eliminated Capital Gains Tax: When you donate eligible securities "in-kind" directly to Stratford Hall, the capital gains inclusion rate is reduced to 0%. If you were to sell the securities to donate the cash, you would normally be taxed on 50% of the accrued gains.
Stratford Hall families are encouraged to donate all, or a portion of, their deposit to the school in advance of their last child’s departure. EID donations may be directed to the Campus Transformation Campaign or Annual Fund at the donor’s discretion.
EIDs converted into a donation to the school qualify for an official charitable tax receipt. This enables families to realize the tax benefits of that conversion well in advance of their last child’s departure from the school.
Upon signing a formal Transfer Agreement acknowledging a full or partial transfer of your EID, the school will automatically convert those funds into a Leaders’ Circle donation. Families who donate their entire EID ($20,000) will be granted membership into the Stratford Hall Leaders Circle and qualify for a naming opportunity on the Leaders Circle donor wall.
Learn about the benefits of donating your EID or contact Cindy Graves, Director of Development.
Your gift to the endowment will support the Campus Transformation Campaign, ensuring that students continue to benefit from your support in perpetuity. The principal amount of your donation will be invested. Once the investment has grown significantly, generated income will then support the Stratford Hall programs, student scholarships, and bold programmatic initiatives. Endowed gifts may also lead to recognition opportunities that honour or memorialize a person of the donor’s choosing.
For further information on making a gift of endowment, please contact Cindy Graves, Director of Development.
